01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

One curry, or a chance to compare two or three? At lunch, Hatonomori’s curry plate lets you choose according to your mood. Go for one curry to savour a favourite, or have two served together to enjoy a combination. One diner who ordered the three-curry plate described working through the curries alongside long-grain rice, enjoying the balance of flavours. Another reviewer recalled the aroma of the spices, tender, falling-apart chicken and the flavour of prawns in a spinach chicken and fish combination. You can also add more heat to make the plate your own.

Biryani is another highlight. The chicken biryani is cooked with bone-in chicken and basmati rice; one diner said they enjoyed it while picking out the cardamom and cloves. Chicken 65 biryani comes topped with spicy fried chicken. Mutton biryani is also on the menu, made with mutton simmered in a tomato and onion base. It offers a rice-centred alternative to the lunch plate, where you choose which curries to combine.

In the evening, small plates make for another way to dine. Options include spicy mackerel and potato croquettes, spice-scented mutton seekh kebab, and a warm anchovy potato salad prepared to order. The selection draws on dishes from around the world, as well as curry. Spices feature in the drinks, too: the house-made spice cocktails use liqueurs infused with spices for more than a week. Sansho pepper gin and tonic or a spiced lemon sour could be paired with a plate or two.

For something sweet, there is coconut panna cotta generously topped with mango sauce, Basque cheesecake with a well-browned top, and nougat glacé with caramelised nuts and rum raisins. From a curry at lunch to small plates and a drink in the evening, there are different ways to round off a meal.
